Art meets Human-Computer Interaction

subnet, a media art initiative based in Salzburg, invites applications for three artist-in-residence / micro-grant positions in 2026, in collaboration with the Division for Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Salzburg.

About the residency:

  • develop projects in dialogue with HCI researchers Residents
  • access to technical infrastructure, tools, expertise, and a growing network
  • intersection of art, technology, and research
  • a focused yet relaxed environment
  • supports experimentation, exchange, and process-oriented work.

What we offer:

  • Access to the HCI labs and workshops
  • A Workspace at the Division for HCI

  • A self-directed, flexible working process

Facts subnetAIR Residency (3 slots)

  • Duration: 3 to 6 weeks each
  • Timeframes:
    March 15 – June 30, 2027
    October 1 – November 30, 2027
  • Includes: €1000 grant (no accommodation)

Requirements:

  • Short project proposal
  • CV
  • Portfolio / references
  • Preferred timeframes (for subnetAIR)

Applications should not exceed 3 pages total.

During the residency:

  • give an introductory artist talk “meet the artist”
  • invited to name a supportive speaker for a subnetTALK

Beyond this, the residency is self-directed
