Ausschreibung: ExpertInnen für Dialog mit EU-Kommission zum Thema "Gender Balance in Cultural and Creative Sectors" gesucht

Call for Applications

GENDER EQUALITY: GENDER BALANCE IN CULTURAL AND CREATIVE SECTORS

Brainstorming Session: 4-5 September 2019 – Prague/Czech Republic

Dialogue Meeting: 5-6 November 2019 – Brussels/Belgium

What is it about?
The Brainstorming Session on GENDER EQUALITY: Gender Balance in Cultural and Creative Sectors represents the opportunity for a group of around 35 European civil society stakeholders in the cultural sector to exchange ideas on this topic and to present these to the European Commission.

The group will brainstorm on 4-5 September 2019 in Prague, and then discuss the main ideas (to be summarised in a Brainstorming Report) with representatives of the European Commission at a Dialogue Meeting in Brussels on 5- 6 of November 2019.

Why is it important?
Several gender gaps exist in nearly all cultural fields in the world and across the EU. Women are not only underrepresented in the workforce, mainly in creative jobs and in leadership and decision-making positions, but also paid less than their male colleagues.

Moreover, gender stereotypes and sexual harassment are still widely taking place, while access of female artists to resources and to the art market is often limited. The conditions on the labour market make women artists particularly vulnerable, in particular as far as labour segregation, social rights related to pregnancy, maternity and pensions are concerned.

Calendar:

  1.  Applicants will be informed whether they have been selected, based on the criteria below, or not, by 27 July 2019.
  2. The selected participants are requested to come mandated by their organisation/network to the Brainstorming Session on 4-5 September 2019. Part of the preparation expected from participants in the Brainstorming Session will be to answer the questions under the theme description in cooperation with their network and peers. The answers will then be summarised into a paper, which will be a starting point for discussion on 5-6 November 2019.
  3. The Brainstorming Session is a short gathering of a day and a half, which serves as an opportunity for the cultural sector to brainstorm together and structure the ideas they would like to convey to the European Commission at the Dialogue Meeting at a later stage.
  4. The summary of the discussion will be compiled in a Brainstorming Report, drafted by volunteers from the group of participants itself during the meeting. The Brainstorming Report will be finalised remotely in collaboration with the whole group between the Brainstorming Session and the Dialogue Meeting.

Who can apply?
